3300 Registrations and 1000 Ideas Flood Ideas4Life Portal
New Delhi- The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change's Ideas4LiFE initiative has garnered impressive engagement, achieving 46.5 million impressions, a reach of 13.5 million, and over 1,000 ideas submitted on its portal. Launched by Union Minister Bhupender Yadav on 29 July 2024, the initiative seeks innovative ideas promoting environment-friendly lifestyles, focusing on themes such as water conservation, energy efficiency, and waste reduction. The portal, created in partnership with UNICEF YuWaah, allows participants to submit ideas online, with winning entries eligible for prizes.
To extend the initiative’s outreach, partnerships with educational bodies like the UGC, AICTE, and IITs are encouraging students, faculty, and researchers to participate. The Ideas4LiFE Ideathon covers seven themes aligned with Mission LiFE, including managing e-waste and minimizing single-use plastics. A recent event at IIT Bombay, held in collaboration with Maharashtra’s State Environment Department, further promoted the initiative, leading to the submission deadline being extended to 15 October 2024.
The Ministry is amplifying the campaign through social media, with plans to engage more stakeholders such as the UGC, AICTE, and state governments. After the submission period, a jury will evaluate the innovative ideas, which will be recognized with awards and added to a national repository. These ideas have the potential to be scaled and implemented by government bodies and private entities for widespread environmental impact.
