Udaipur- Mohanlal Sukhadia University has implemented the Internal Assessment Examination system as per the guidelines outlined in the New Education Policy (NEP). This progressive approach will account for 20 marks in the overall evaluation process. The NEP-2020 guidelines has been embraced across all undergraduate and postgraduate programs, excluding law, pharmacy, education, engineering, and architecture, for the academic session 2023. The implementation of new assessment norms at Mohanlal Sukhadia University is set to impact around 1.85 lakh students enrolled in various courses.

Dr. Kunjan Acharya, the university spokesperson, said, commencing from the 24th of this month, the semester system has been instated for first-semester regular students in the aforementioned courses.

Under the new system, each question paper, encompassing compulsory, theory, and practical papers, will include an internal assessment examination worth 20 marks. This includes a 10-mark test paper and the remaining 10 marks, evaluated based on assignments, homework assessments, seminars, quizzes, or other relevant logical processes within the respective question paper.

Practical papers will also be subject to the 20-mark internal assessment, determined by students' practical records, reasoning abilities, and discipline demonstrated in the laboratory. A minimum passing score of 8 marks out of the maximum 20 is mandatory in each question paper's separate internal assessment. Failure to achieve this minimum score will result in the student being declared unsuccessful in the internal assessment examination.

In addition, Hindi has been mandated as a compulsory question paper for the first semester, while English is obligatory in the second semester for all undergraduate subjects. Students are urged to diligently prepare for these examinations in accordance with the provided directives.

Dr. Rajesh Kumawat, the Controller of Examinations, clarified that no separate orders or information will be issued for conducting internal assessment examinations for all question papers. Instead, departments and colleges are empowered to conduct these examinations at their discretion within the designated time frame specified by the university. Subsequently, the internal assessment marks must be accurately entered into the university portal based on each student's roll number.
