New Delhi- Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) concluded its Vigilance Week celebrations with a series of creative and thought-provoking events aimed at promoting integrity and ethical behavior among students. Organized by the Department of Psychology, the week-long initiative saw enthusiastic participation from students across the university through various competitions and activities, all centered around the theme of integrity.
Throughout the week, students engaged in creative contests such as slogan-making, poster-making, and speech competitions. These events provided a platform for students to express their thoughts on the importance of integrity in contemporary society. The slogans and posters reflected powerful messages about truthfulness, fairness, and the role of ethical conduct in both personal and professional life. The speeches delivered by students during the competitions emphasized that living with integrity is not just a choice but a responsibility that everyone must uphold for the betterment of society.
The culmination of Vigilance Week took place on October 18, in a grand ceremony that brought together university officials and distinguished guests. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. R.C. Das, Chief General Manager of Vigilance at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), who was the chief guest, along with Professor Muslim Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at JMI, and Professor Sheema Aleem, Head of the Department of Psychology.
In their addresses, the dignitaries emphasized the crucial role of integrity in shaping the future of individuals and the nation. Mr. Das highlighted the direct connection between a nation's prosperity and its citizens' adherence to honesty and ethical behavior. He urged the students to make integrity a core value in all aspects of their lives. Following his speech, Mr. Das led the attendees, including both students and faculty, in taking the Pledge of Integrity, a solemn moment in which everyone vowed to uphold truthfulness and fairness.
In recognition of the students' contributions, winners of the various competitions were awarded by dignitaries including Abhishek Sharma, Senior Manager of Human Resources at IOCL, Vikrant K. Singh, Senior Manager of Vigilance, and Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Deputy General Manager of HR at IOCL. The awards celebrated the creativity and commitment displayed by the students during the week’s events.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Meena Osmany, Associate Professor and Advisor of the Subject Association at the Department of Psychology. Dr. Osmany expressed gratitude to all participants, dignitaries, and organizers for making the event a success.
The Vigilance Week celebration at JMI not only rewarded student creativity but also left a lasting message—integrity and vigilance are essential pillars for building a prosperous and ethical society. The event encouraged students to carry forward the values of honesty and integrity, reminding them that these principles are the foundation of both personal success and national growth.
