Ahmedabad — The Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) on Friday announced new fee structures for more than 1,200 private medical, dental, and paramedical colleges in the state.
For medical colleges, the revised fees will be applicable for the academic year 2024-25, while the new fee structures for paramedical and dental colleges will remain in effect for the next three years. However, the fees for nursing colleges have yet to be disclosed.
The committee stated that the fees for the remaining two years of medical courses will be announced in the coming days, citing the extensive nature of the review process.
Colleges have been granted permission to increase their fees by 2% to 25%, with an average hike of around 12%. Notably, the new fee structures do not apply to the 13 medical colleges operated by the Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS).
The previous fee revision for private medical and paramedical colleges in the state was carried out in 2020-21. Since then, the fees had remained unchanged due to the financial challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The process of setting new fees was initiated by the FRC following demands from college administrators. The committee has finalized fees for 39 medical colleges for the 2024-25 academic year, with further announcements expected soon.
