Thiruvananthapuram- In a landmark move poised to reshape the landscape of primary education, over 4 lakh students of 7th class across Kerala are set to embrace Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as an integral part of their learning journey in the upcoming academic year.

With a pioneering focus on fostering both conventional and modern forms of intelligence, the state government has unveiled a groundbreaking curriculum that seamlessly integrates ICT with traditional textbooks.

Through this innovative approach, students will not only delve into the realms of constructed intelligence via textbooks but also engage with cutting-edge AI technology capable of recognizing human facial expressions.

Remarkably, this initiative marks the first time in India where an entire class will collectively engage in learning the intricacies of AI, epitomizing a truly inclusive educational paradigm.

In a commendable gesture, V Sivankutty, the Minister for General Education and Labour in Kerala, took to his social media platforms to laud the pioneering efforts undertaken to revolutionize primary education in the state.

Sharing the innovative educational initiative aimed at integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into the fabric of primary schooling, Minister Sivankutty expressed profound admiration for the groundbreaking strides made in fostering a dynamic learning ecosystem.

The minister said , " In a bid to cater to linguistic diversity, new ICT resources will be available in Malayalam, English, Tamil, and Kannada mediums for classes 1, 3, 5, and 7. These resources, seamlessly integrated into textbooks, are meticulously designed to cultivate crucial cognitive skills such as causal thinking, analytical prowess, and problem-solving abilities, thereby facilitating holistic development."

Moreover, students will have access to the 'PictoBlock' package, a visual programming tool embedded within textbooks, enabling them to explore the realms of programming, AI, and robotics. To complement this endeavor, laptops in kite schools will be equipped with requisite software, ensuring uninterrupted access to educational resources.

The initiative extends beyond traditional academic subjects, encompassing a diverse array of educational applications such as Gcobris, EduActivate, Omnitex, and Tuxpaint. Through gamified learning experiences, students will not only enhance core competencies but also gain practical insights into crucial domains like traffic rules, waste management, and cybersecurity.

Furthermore, the comprehensive ICT training program for primary teachers, commencing in June, underscores the government's commitment to empower educators with the requisite skills to navigate the digital realm effectively.

With plans underway to introduce new ICT resources for classes 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, and 10 in the subsequent academic year, the state is poised to spearhead a transformative educational revolution.

In a testament to the resounding success of the initiative, over 20,120 teachers have already completed AI training in May, signaling a resounding endorsement of the state's visionary approach towards education.

As the state embarks on this transformative journey, the integration of ICT promises to herald a new era of learning, one where innovation, inclusion, and empowerment converge to shape the minds of tomorrow's leaders.
