New Delhi - Dr. Laxman Yadav, an Ad-Hoc teacher whose contract at Zakir Hussain College was not renewed, announced a nationwide protest under the banner 'Save Education, Save Constitution.'

The now-expelled teacher took to X (formerly Twitter) to officially reveal the details of the 'Save Education, Save Constitution' protest against the grave threats to education and unjust discrimination. Dr. Laxman Yadav said, “Educational institutions serve as the bedrock of any nation and society. Schools, colleges, and universities should stand on principles devoid of any singular influence – be it government, caste, religion, language, or region.

Notably, higher education institutions are pivotal hubs for global knowledge, science, research, dialogue, and communication. The Constitution of India advocates for education rooted in principles of fundamental justice, equality, and impartiality. However, perilous threats are currently looming over the education sector, causing concern among students, researchers, and professors.

As responsible citizens of India, we aim to shed light on these dangers.” “A special proposal is undermining the education system, suppressing diverse perspectives in films, and eroding the neutral and constitutional character of education. The process of appointing professors is coercive, discriminatory, and opaque, jeopardizing the future of students. Merit assessments should be transparent, and a commission should select professors for all central institutes.”

“Systemic exploitation and discrimination persist, leading to injustice in various spheres, from interviews to research and job opportunities. Structural changes are imperative to ensure social justice. Government influence in admissions, rampant rigging, arbitrary degree and fellowship cuts, and exorbitant fee hikes are compromising the quality of higher education. Recent instances of unjust termination of talented professionals from institutions like Delhi University underscore the need to address unfair treatment of capable youth across the nation.”

“Aspirations to become a global leader without addressing the standard student-teacher ratio are perilous. Strict regulations should be enforced to maintain global standards. We, as common citizens, professors, researchers, students, and intellectuals, express deep concern about these issues. In today's press conference, we urge the Government and the President to take concrete steps to save higher education. The President being the Chancellor of all Central Governments and the foremost citizen of India, holds the power to make a significant impact. We implore you to consider our appeal seriously, as complete governmental control over higher education would irreparably damage our society and nation.”

The Ad-Hoc teacher then appealed to citizens, professors, researchers, students, and intellectuals across India to join the cause. He further added, “conduct an analysis of injustices in your localities, sectors, and enterprises, and unite people for a mass movement to safeguard schools, colleges, and universities. 'Save Education, Save Constitution' is not just a slogan; it's a call to action for the simultaneous survival of our education institutions."
