“No One Can Shake Our Reservation Right!”: Athawale Warns Social Media Giants, Orders Removal of Misleading Posts

New Delhi- Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and Republican Party of India (Athawale) president Ramdas Athawale on Wednesday issued a strong statement on X, slamming what he described as a misleading and hate-driven campaign against reservation on social media platforms. He accused opponents of using the CJP movement as a cover to defame the government and spread false narratives about reservation.

In a multi-part thread, Athawale wrote: "Over the past few days, opponents have devised a new ploy to malign the government under the guise of the CJP movement. A misleading and hate-filled 'Remove Reservation' campaign has been launched on social media platforms, where some individuals are deliberately spreading disinformation by portraying reservation merely as a tool for 'poverty alleviation.' I wish to make it clear to those who strike from the shadows that our NDA government and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi do not support such fools or their absurd demands in the slightest. On the contrary, Modi ji himself is steadfastly carrying forward the ideals of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar."

He further warned anti-reservation elements, stating: "Certain anarchic elements are conspiring against the country and trying to incite our youth, but let them listen carefully: no one, not even the mightiest, can shake our right to reservation! We do not need to be taught how to fight back if anyone attempts to snatch away our rights; we have been battling for this for generations, go and read our history! No matter how much force is exerted, this right bestowed by Babasaheb remains completely secure.

Athawale then issued a direct warning to major social media companies. Tagging Meta, Facebook, Instagram, X and X_Indo, he said: “I am issuing a clear warning to @Meta, @facebook, @instagram, @X, @X_indo_ and all other social media platforms that this anti-reservation content must be removed from your platforms immediately, otherwise we will have to remove you from this country! If any serious law and order situation arises in the country due to these misleading posts, Meta and X-like social media platforms will be 100% responsible. No mercy will be shown while fixing accountability. I expect you to remove all such content from your platforms within the next 10 days. And those who are dreaming of removing reservation like Mungerilal’s fantasies should permanently remove this nonsense from their minds.” He also tagged the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (@MIB_India).

The minister’s statement strongly reaffirmed that reservation is a constitutional right granted by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and not merely an economic measure to alleviate poverty. He stressed that the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi fully supports this right and will not tolerate any attempt to undermine it.

Meanwhile, a video of Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad has also been circulating on social media. In the video, Azad warned that if any attempt is made through the back door to end reservation or to divide the deprived communities, the government should be prepared to face the consequences, adding that “stars will not be shown during the day.”

Athawale’s thread was posted on Wednesday morning and has drawn attention for its sharp tone against both the online campaign and the platforms hosting such content.
