Bhopal- In a grim reminder of the infamous Sidhi urination incident, where a tribal man was humiliated by an individual closely associated with a BJP MLA, a Dalit youth from a village in Bhopal faced a brutal assault followed by an act of humiliation. Similar to the Sidhi case, the primary suspect in this incident is reportedly a BJP worker with close ties to party MLA Rameshwar Sharma.
The incident occurred on September 10 in Chaupra Kalan village, under the jurisdiction of Bhopal. The village Sarpanch, accompanied by his associates, mercilessly assaulted the village's Kotwar with a barrage of kicks and punches before subjecting him to a degrading act. This reprehensible act was triggered when the victim attempted to prevent the accused from encroaching upon government-owned land. The husband of the village Sarpanch, infuriated by this intervention, led the charge. He, along with his accomplices, forcibly abducted the Kotwar and confined him in a room where they subjected him to severe physical abuse. The victim is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital due to the injuries sustained during the attack.
Speaking to The Mooknayak, the victim recounted, "On the night of September 9, the Patwari had informed me about the land dispute. I arrived at the site on September 10 at 1 pm. I observed Mastan Meena and his laborers attempting to lay claim to government land by erecting fences. When I objected to their actions, they summoned Sheru Meena, the husband of the village Sarpanch Monica Meena. Alongside him were Abhishek Meena, Tushar Meena, and Lekhraj Meena. They all subjected me to a vicious assault involving kicks and punches."
The victim went on to describe how the Sarpanch's husband bound his hands with a rope and transported him in a vehicle driven by Sheru. They took him to a secluded area near a drain where they continued the physical assault. When he was on the brink of losing consciousness, they subjected him to a demeaning act by urinating on him. A man named Bhaiyalal attempted to intervene and dissuade them, but he was disregarded.
Subsequently, Sajju Mian forcibly took the victim to Sheru's residence in Sanjeev Nagar. There, the victim was subjected to further abuse, leading to him losing consciousness. After regaining consciousness approximately 2-3 hours later, the victim found himself in the presence of Ashok Meena, Raju Rajput, the President of Bilkhiriya Mandal, Diwan Singh Lodhi, the Sarpanch of Mughalia, Veeru Seni, also known as Ajay, the Sarpanch of Devalkhedi, Sodan Singh Meena, Chhaganlal Maharaj Mughalia, and Mohan Meena.
These individuals attempted to mediate with the accused and subsequently took the victim to Lilavati Hospital. However, the victim initially refused treatment and was later brought to the police station by Vikram Singh Ahirwar, Rajesh Ahirwar, and Ganesh Ahirwar, where he filed a formal complaint about the incident.
The victim's brother, Tuman Ahirwar, revealed that it was Sheru Meena, a BJP worker from the village and the husband of the Sarpanch, who had subjected his brother to the assault. In the midst of the brutal beating, as his brother was losing consciousness, the accused also committed the humiliating act of urinating on his face.
On Tuesday, the police apprehended five suspects in connection with the case and presented them in court. They have subsequently been remanded to judicial custody. The police assert that the accused had physically assaulted the victim but deny the allegations of urination. In the meantime, the victim's wife, Asha Ahirwar, disclosed to The Mooknayak that her family is facing threats to withdraw the complaint. She cited caste discrimination in the village as the underlying cause of this horrific incident.
Rural SP Pramod Kumar Sinha denied any instance of urination, stating that the accused had only assaulted the victim. Five out of the seven accused have been arrested, and action has been taken against them under the Atrocity Act, including charges of assault. All the accused are now in police custody.
