Dhaba Owner and Aides Brutally Beat Dalit Youth to Death Over Food Dispute in Bhopal

Bhopal- In a tragic incident in Bhopal, a dispute over late-night food service led to the brutal beating and death of a Dalit youth by a dhaba operator and his associates. The incident occurred at Bhaisalay Dhaba in the Indore Kishanganj police station area at 9 pm on Monday night.

Vishnu, 36, had gone to the dhaba with his father and friends, only to be informed that food wouldn't be served due to the absence of the chef. An argument ensued, escalating into a violent attack by the dhaba operator and his associates. Vishnu sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to a head injury during treatment. Three of his companions are currently undergoing treatment for serious injuries.

Outraged family members and villagers protested at the Kishanganj police station, demanding action against the accused and the demolition of the dhaba and their residences. The police, assuring the use of bulldozers, partially demolished the dhaba's outer part, which did not satisfy the family and Bhim Army workers.

Expressing dissatisfaction, they blocked the highway, insisting on complete demolition of the dhaba and the accused's houses. The family is demanding justice, a government job for one family member, and a compensation of Rs 50 lakh. Despite the presence of police forces and officials, the blockade continues until their demands are met.

Speaking to The Mooknayak, former Bhim Army District President Vishal Karosia expressed concern about the lack of support for Vishnu's family following his murder. Vishnu, who worked as a laborer to provide for his family, left a void that the family is struggling to fill. A demand letter for compensation of Rs 50 lakh, strict punishment for the accused, and a government job for a family member has been submitted to the Collector. Vishal warned of impending protests if the administration does not address their demands.

The nephew of the deceased, Govind Parmar, filed a case against the accused at the police station on Tuesday morning. Narrating the sequence of events, Govind explained, 'I had gone to the dhaba with my uncle Vishnu to have food. Upon ordering, we were assured that it would be ready within 10 minutes. However, after waiting for half an hour, Dhaba operator Neeraj Singh claimed that food would not be available due to the absence of staff. In response, my uncle and I sat outside the dhaba and began talking. Suddenly, individuals from inside started abusing us. When we protested, they surrounded and attacked us with sticks.' As a result of Govind's complaint, the police have registered a case against the dhaba operator and others, citing charges including murder and assault."
