Dalit Youth Denied Temple Entry, Assaulted in Bihar; Investigation Underway

Jehanabad- In Bihar's Jehanabad district, a Dalit youth faced discrimination when he was denied entry to a temple, resulting in physical assault and caste-based verbal abuse. The victim Akash Kumar, based in Kako, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against temple committee member and businessman Dayanand Keshari and his son. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Akash recounts that on a Friday, he was prevented from entering the temple, physically assaulted, and subjected to caste-based slurs. The police station, led by Ajit Kumar, confirmed the registration of the case and assured a thorough investigation. However, the accused party vehemently denies the allegations. Dayanand Keshari asserts that false accusations have been made maliciously.

According to the victim's complaint, both accused individuals obstructed his entry into the temple, subjected him to unwarranted assault, and used caste-based derogatory language. The accused claim that the accusations are baseless, offering an alternative explanation that involves a dispute over maintaining the sanctity of the temple premises during a worship session.

Keshari said when he went to worship on Thursday, some youths were sitting inside the temple premises and intoxicating. He had requested the youth to maintain the sanctity of the temple. The complainant got angry and hence filed a false case.
