New Delhi— Priyanka Deshmukh, a prominent social media influencer known for speaking out for the rights of Dalits, backward classes, and women, has recently faced severe threats to her safety. On June 4, she posted a shocking thread on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), alleging that a history-sheeter named Sanjay Soni had leaked her phone number and her sister’s address.

In her post, Priyanka wrote:

“There’s a history-sheeter named Sanjay Soni on X, who served 93 days in jail for stealing women’s underwear. He has now leaked my phone number and my sister’s address. Over 250 men have gathered outside my sister’s home, issuing rape and death threats. I’m getting threats every minute. If anything happens to me or any member of my family, Sanjay Soni will be responsible.”

Shortly after this alarming revelation, Priyanka thanked Delhi Police and security forces for their swift response:

“I’m deeply grateful to @DelhiPolice for saving my family with the help of @RAFCRPF. I hope the criminal mastermind Sanjay Soni is arrested soon so that people continue to have faith in the rule of law.”

"A Mob Outside the House, Hurling Abuse and Threats"

In another tweet, Priyanka elaborated on the terrifying experience her family endured that morning:

“There’s a park in front of my sister’s house. A mob had gathered there—abusing, threatening. The number 250 came to my mind because the park was packed, and people had spilled onto the streets. The atmosphere was so terrifying that @DelhiPolice had to call in the RAF. My family is in shock.”

She also criticized those downplaying the seriousness of the incident by focusing only on the "250" number.

“Even if 25 people came to threaten a woman from a backward community, does that make it acceptable? No matter how hard they try, we won’t be silenced.”

Activists and Politicians React

The case has sparked a strong response on social media.
Activist Priyanshu Kushwaha posted:

“If anything unfortunate happens to Priyanka Deshmukh, the responsibility will lie with @DelhiPolice and @PoliceRajasthan. History-sheeter Sanjay Soni from Rajasthan leaked her phone number and her sister’s Delhi address. Is women’s safety now in the hands of troll armies?”

RJD National Spokesperson Priyanka Bharti also posted:

“Dear @BhajanlalBjp ji, in your state, men who threaten women with rape and leak their phone numbers are being protected. Will you instruct @PoliceRajasthan to take action? @bihar_police, at the very least, stand with Bihar’s daughter.”

Is Women’s Safety Now in the Hands of Troll Armies?

This incident sheds light on the growing threat of digital harassment and targeted intimidation, especially against women from marginalized communities who dare to raise their voices. Priyanka Deshmukh’s case highlights the urgent need for stricter laws and faster responses to online abuse.

As calls for justice mount, all eyes are now on the Rajasthan Police and whether action will be taken against the accused.
