New Delhi- In the Union Budget 2024-25, Tamil Nadu has been granted a significant boost in the railway budget. The state will now get a total railway budget of Rs 6,362 crore, which is an eightfold increase from the previous budget period. This increase is part of the central government's plan to enhance the state's transportation infrastructure.

The state government has also been given a substantial amount of money in the budget for the Fisheries sector and the Deep Sea Mission. The government has allocated Rs 3 lakh crore for women-led governance, which is in line with the Modi government's commitment to empowering women-led governance. The budget also includes an abolition of the Angel tax, which is expected to boost the startup ecosystem in the state.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh, who unveiled the key features of the budget, also addressed the allegations made by the state government that it was not receiving its due share of the budget. According to the minister, the state government has received its due share and there is no room for politics. He also criticized the state government for being unresponsive and failing to take advantage of the opportunities provided. He said that the central government is committed to providing equitable resources to all the states, including Tamil Nadu.

The increase in the railway budget for Tamil Nadu reflects the central government's commitment to enhancing the state's transportation infrastructure. The state government has also received substantial support for the Fisheries sector and the Deep Sea Mission, which are aimed at leveraging the state's maritime resources for economic growth. These are all positive measures that will help in the overall development of the state.
