Socio-economic Development Focus in Tripura's Tribal Areas

Union government sanctions 78 roads, 14 bridges for rural development

New Delhi- The Union government has announced that it will sanction 78 roads measuring 563 kilometres and 14 bridges in Assam and Tripura for the development of rural areas.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana of the Union government, the funding of more than 378 crore rupees has been allotted for the development of 78 roads measuring 563 kilometres and 14 bridges in Assam.

The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned 42 roads measuring 118 kilometres in Tripura for the development of rural areas. The roads are expected to improve access to health care, education and markets in the remote villages.

According to the Ministry, the projects will also improve the socio-economic condition of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups living in Tripura. The new initiative will enable the development of rural areas in a sustainable manner.
