Bangladesh's interim government is making strides toward establishing the Election Commission, with a search committee proposal soon to be officially confirmed. Law Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul shared on Tuesday that the recommendation has been submitted to the chief adviser for approval and that the public announcement is expected imminently.

Following a meeting with United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk, who is on a brief official visit to Dhaka, Nazrul outlined the interim government’s commitment to preparing for a "noteworthy" election. Updating the voter list, he noted, will be a key priority for the newly formed Election Commission amid questions regarding its accuracy.
