Bhopal- Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav commemorated the 648th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas at Hindi Bhavan in Bhopal on Wednesday. Accompanied by local MLA Bhagwandas Sabnani, Yadav offered floral tributes and lit a ceremonial lamp at the saint-poet's statue.

In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted Ravidas' enduring legacy of fighting social discrimination and promoting equality. Yadav emphasized how the 15th-century saint's teachings on compassion, unity, and social reform remain relevant in contemporary times, calling on citizens to embrace these principles for building a harmonious society.

The celebration drew participation from across the political spectrum, with both the ruling BJP and opposition Congress organizing events at their respective headquarters. Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath also paid tribute, noting Ravidas' emphasis on religious harmony and his rejection of social inequality and untouchability.

The state government marked the occasion by declaring a public holiday. A significant development in honoring Sant Ravidas' legacy is the ongoing construction of a grand temple in Sagar district. The project, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2023, carries a budget of Rs 100 crore and will include a museum showcasing the saint's life and teachings.

The celebration reflects the continued relevance of Ravidas' message of social equality and spiritual unity in modern India, with political leaders across party lines acknowledging his contribution to social reform and spiritual enlightenment.
