New Delhi- Delhi University has once again turned into an arena. The issue was opposition and support for the UGC 2026 policies, but the headlines were grabbed by a young woman who was sitting on the shoulders of students and raising controversial slogans. While some saw this as part of student politics, a major revelation has now emerged in the case.
Amid heated clashes between various student groups over the UGC 2026 matter at Delhi University, a girl was spotted at night in the crowd, perched on the shoulders of boys, and began chanting "Brahmanvad Zindabad" (Brahmanism Zindabad). The video of the incident quickly went viral on social media, sparking debates over caste-based politics.
Prominent fact-checker and co-founder of Alt News, Mohammed Zubair, exposed the truth behind this viral video on the social media platform 'X'. He claimed that the woman raising the slogans is not a student of Delhi University.
The slogan-shouter is Megha Lawariya , a YouTuber often seen making provocative statements for YouTube views. Most of the right-wing crowd present there were not students, but fellow YouTubers. — Mohammed Zubair
Looking at Megha Lawariya's past statements and videos reveals a strange pattern. She frequently makes remarks that promote polarization, regardless of which side they favor. Some of her viral statements include:
"Just let the BJP government come to power in Bengal, then we'll show how Bangladeshi Rohingyas are expelled."
"No BJP government is for Hindus. Hindus have no one—no organization, no worker."
"I say vote theft should happen openly, with fanfare."
These statements clearly show a lack of ideological consistency in Megha's stance. On one hand, she advocates for the BJP government, while on the other, she calls it anti-Hindu. Experts believe this is part of the 'attention economy,' where controversial statements are used to gain followers and views on social media.
The entry of external elements and 'views-hungry' social media influencers into a prestigious institution like Delhi University is a matter of concern. People using the guise of student interests to run their 'digital shops' are not only spoiling the atmosphere but also diverting attention from genuine student issues.
