Jhansi- A bizarre incident has come to light in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, where a marriage broke down just 18 hours after the wedding. The reason? The bride belonged to a different caste than what was initially claimed. After hours of discussions at the police station, both parties refused to take legal action. The case falls under the Raksa police station area.

A woman from Madhya Pradesh was set to marry a man from Basai village in Jhansi. The wedding rituals were performed at a temple in Jhansi. However, the groom's family alleged that they were misled about the bride's caste.

The groom's side claimed they were told the bride belonged to their community, but the truth came out after the wedding, leading to a dispute. Additionally, another issue escalated the tension—there were discussions that the bride's family had demanded ₹50,000 from the groom's side, of which ₹20,000 had already been paid. The remaining amount became a point of contention.

Shravan Singh, the groom’s father, accused the bride’s family of providing false information about their caste before the wedding. He also mentioned the financial demand, which further deepened the conflict. According to Singh, these reasons forced them to call off the marriage.

According to an ABP News report, Raksa Station House Officer (SHO) Rahul Rathore stated that both parties reached the police station after the dispute. After prolonged discussions and a panchayat (community mediation), a mutual agreement was reached. Both sides have now separated, and the matter has been resolved.

Meanwhile, the incident has sparked intense discussions in the village, with people speculating about other possible underlying reasons beyond what has been stated.
