8-Year-Old's Rape Sparks Furious Protests and Road Blockade in Udaipur

As emotions ran high, the mob turned violent, damaging buses and private vehicles on the Udaipur-Dabok service road. The protesters also blocked the road, causing significant traffic disruptions with long queues of vehicles.

Udaipur- The brutal rape of an 8-year-old girl in Udaipur on Sunday has ignited widespread fury, leading enraged locals to block roads, vandalize vehicles, and gather in large numbers outside the Dabok Police Station. The tense atmosphere persists as police intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrator.

Hukum Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Dabok Police Station, reported that the assault took place on Sunday evening around 7:30 PM. The young victim, who usually accompanied her mother, was alone in a field when an unidentified man approached her. He allegedly covered her mouth, dragged her into nearby bushes, and raped her after issuing threats. The perpetrator fled the scene afterward.

The traumatized girl managed to reach home and recounted the horrific incident to her family. Due to her worsening condition, she was rushed to MB Hospital, where she is now stable, according to authorities.

The protesters also blocked the road, causing significant traffic disruptions with long queues of vehicles.

The escalating unrest prompted a swift response from law enforcement. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Gopal Swaroop Mewara, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ramesh Sirvi, and police units from Ghassa, Mavli, and Fatehnagar stations were deployed to control the situation. The area now resembles a heavily guarded zone due to the strong police presence.

Police have launched an extensive investigation to capture the fugitive suspect. Teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and Dog Squad are collecting evidence at the crime scene, while CCTV footage from surrounding areas is being scrutinized. SHO Hukum Singh assured that the police are working tirelessly and expect to apprehend the accused soon.

The heinous crime has sent shockwaves through the local community, fueling demands for justice and heightened safety measures. Senior officials are closely monitoring the volatile situation, with additional police forces deployed to prevent further violence. Authorities have appealed for calm to allow the investigation to proceed smoothly.

Crimes against minors and young girls in Rajasthan are witnessing an alarming rise. According to data released by the Rajasthan Police Headquarters, over 200 cases of gang rape were registered from January to June 2025. In a chilling revelation, five girls were murdered following rape incidents. The police data up to June also highlights over 600 cases of sexual harassment. The surge in such crimes has left parents deeply concerned, with many fearing to send their daughters to school or college. Additionally, dowry harassment cases indicate that women are not safe even within their homes, as per a recent media report.

Udaipur rape incident has cast a spotlight on the urgent need for stronger measures to prevent crimes against children. As the police continue their manhunt, the community remains on edge, awaiting justice for the young victim.
