Unfazed by House Arrest, R.S. Praveen observes “Satyagraha Diksha” inside his house

Telangana BSP Chief Dr. R.S. Praveen Kumar, who was to launch a mass protest against the TSPSC (Telangana State Public Service Commission) exam on Saturday was house arrested at his residence in Hyderabad by the Telangana Police. The step was seen as a preventive action against the protest by R.S. Praveen Kumar, who had made a call to his supporters to participate in a “Satyagraha diksha” demanding the postponement of “Group 2” TPSC exams in the state.

The Police swung into action to thwart agitation

The police stopped the BSP supporters and team members from participating in the protest. The BSP activists, who arrived at the Gun Park in Hyderabad were arrested by the Telangana Police and were taken to police station.

Dr. R.S. Praveen Kumar, who is also a former IPS Officer remained undeterred by the intimidation of the state government and launched “Satyagraha Diksha” inside his residence in Hyderabad, the state capital of Telangana and urged his supporters to protest through out the state.

Attacking K. Chandrashekhar Rao the state Chief Minister he said in a tweet “Just now five senior police officers came and informed me that they have been directed by the KCR government to detain me in house arrest. The land of Telangana has seen many dictators like KCR, I will continue with the “Satyagraha” in my house protest from 10 in the morning to 4 in the evening. I request the people of Telangana to continue with the peaceful protest from wherever they are and oppose the dictatorship of the government.”

The BSP workers protested the arrest of their state Chief. The workers in Karimnagar district of the state burnt an effigy of the State Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. The protestors led by the district president N Srinivas also demanded the postponement of the Group-2 exams in the state, which are scheduled this month.

TSPSC: R.S Praveen Kumar’s persistent struggle to overhaul the agency

R.S. Praveen Kumar, who was declared as the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Bahujan Samaj Party in a rally in Hyderabad on 7th of May this year has spearheaded a battle against the alleged corruption in TSPSC, which is a recruitment body of the state. In March, he went on a hunger strike demanding the overhaul of the TSPSC and CBI Investigation into the corruption charges against the recruitment agency after a paper of an examination being conducted by the agency was leaked. The Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was forced to cancel the scheduled TSPSC paper and also three other papers. Besides, he also established a SIT (Special investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter.
