Lucknow — Samajwadi Party (SP) spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand, voicing support for party candidate Naseem Solanki in the assembly by-election for the Sisamau seat in Uttar Pradesh, asserted that the SP holds respect for all religions, a principle deeply ingrained in the party's ideology.

In a video message, Chand stated that Naseem Solanki’s husband, Irfan Solanki, is currently imprisoned under what he described as false charges filed by the BJP government. According to Chand, the BJP has subjected Irfan Solanki to unjust persecution through fabricated cases.

Now, Naseem Solanki is contesting as the SP candidate in the by-election. Chand highlighted that she has been visiting temples, mosques, churches, and gurdwaras, praying for victory and justice, as she believes in one God present everywhere.

Targeting the BJP, Chand accused the party of engaging in divisive and hateful politics. He claimed that BJP leaders promote slogans like “Bantoge to katoge” (“If you divide, you suffer”), while Samajwadi leaders strive to bring everyone together, an approach he insists is not objectionable.

A fatwa has been issued against Naseem Solanki, the SP candidate for the Sisamau seat in Kanpur district. Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, issued the fatwa, labeling Naseem Solanki a violator of Sharia law. Razvi declared that she should repent and reaffirm her faith.

He further explained that idol worship is forbidden in Islam, and strict rules apply to those who engage in such practices willingly. If Naseem Solanki participated in idol worship unknowingly, she remains guilty in the eyes of Sharia and should repent. This controversy arose after Naseem Solanki performed prayers and lit lamps at a Shiva temple on Diwali, with a video of her temple visit and rituals going viral and sparking criticism.
