Rahul Gandhi Demands Action on Caste Census, Reservations

Congress leader highlights opposition's demands for social justice

Amravati/Chandrapur – Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, speaking at rallies in Amravati and Chandrapur on Saturday, challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on their silence regarding the opposition's demands for a Caste Census and the removal of the 50 percent ceiling on reservations.

Gandhi highlighted that during the last Parliament session, the INDIA bloc, of which Congress is a member, raised these critical issues. He emphasized the need for these actions to ensure justice for all sections of society. However, despite Prime Minister Modi speaking for over an hour, Gandhi noted that he did not address either topic.

Gandhi, holding a copy of the Constitution, framed the current political landscape as a battle between two ideologies. He positioned the MVA and INDIA bloc as defenders of the Constitution and its guarantees of quotas, while accusing the BJP-RSS of attempting to undermine it. He went on to allege that the BJP's actions, including the recent overthrow of the MVA government in Maharashtra, were unconstitutional.

Gandhi concluded by outlining the MVA's commitment to its Five Guarantees for the people of Maharashtra and called for the government to focus on providing guaranteed prices for agricultural produce, creating more employment opportunities for youth, and controlling inflation.
