Madhya Pradesh BJP chief accuses Cong of misleading public, inciting unrest

Bhopal - Madhya Pradesh BJP chief V.D. Sharma launched a scathing attack on the Congress party on Monday, accusing them of attempting to mislead the public and incite unrest over the recent alleged insult to B.R. Ambedkar.

Sharma's statement comes in response to former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh's allegations that the December 21 incident near Parliament was a pre-planned conspiracy by the BJP. Singh had claimed that the confrontation, which resulted in physical altercations between MPs from both parties, was orchestrated by the BJP. Sharma refuted these claims, calling them "unfortunate" and "false," and instead accused the Congress of employing "politics of division." He further questioned the Congress party's stance on Ambedkar, stating that they have never respected him due to his opposition to their actions, citing issues like Article 370.

Sharma demanded answers from the Congress party about their treatment of Ambedkar. He specifically questioned who had humiliated Ambedkar, referencing Singh's claim that Ambedkar was forced to witness humiliation on many occasions. He also highlighted Ambedkar's resignation from Jawaharlal Nehru's cabinet in 1951 and Nehru's subsequent statement on the matter, stating that these "facts are available to the people."

The confrontation near Parliament on December 21 stemmed from separate protests by NDA and Opposition MPs over Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks on Ambedkar. The situation escalated when members from both sides clashed, leading to jostling and injuries.
