Ranchi – Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed strong confidence in the INDIA bloc's victory in the Jharkhand elections, stating that initial voter turnout patterns indicated a resounding win for the coalition.

Addressing a press conference in Ranchi on Saturday, Kharge emphasized the bloc's commitment to fulfilling its seven campaign promises to the people of Jharkhand. He stated that the bloc has already delivered on its promises in Karnataka and Telangana and will do the same in Jharkhand.

Kharge highlighted the Maiya Samman Yojana, a key promise offering Rs 2,500 monthly financial support to women, starting in December. He accused the BJP of attempting to obstruct this scheme in court, labeling the Central government as "anti-poor and anti-women."

Kharge further accused Modi of neglecting the needs of the people by focusing on retaining power and making unfulfilled promises, citing the escalating budget of the bullet train project and the rising inflation rate. He further criticized the BJP's alleged lack of a clear program, highlighting the controversial "Bantenge toh Katenge" slogan as divisive. Responding to Modi's remarks about Rahul Gandhi, Kharge retorted that Modi himself had ruled "like a prince" for 25 years.

Kharge also addressed the issue of Jharkhand's finances, demanding the Centre to release Rs 1.36 lakh crore owed in coal and mining royalties. He demanded that the Prime Minister explain when this payment will be made.

He further criticized Home Minister Amit Shah's handling of national security, alleging that Shah focuses on targeting political opponents instead of addressing border infiltrations. Kharge stated that securing our borders is Shah's responsibility, and he is failing at it.
