BJP MP Blasts AAP Over Housing Scheme Neglect

Bidhuri accuses Delhi government of failing to implement PMAY, depriving lakhs of residents

New Delhi- South Delhi BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri launched a scathing critique of the AAP government in the Lok Sabha on Monday, focusing on its alleged failure to implement the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Delhi.

Speaking during the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, Bidhuri contrasted Prime Minister Modi's achievement of providing housing to nearly three crore families out of a targeted four crore under PMAY with what he described as Delhi's poor implementation record.

The BJP MP highlighted specific concerns about housing infrastructure in Delhi, noting that while 53,000 flats had been built with central government support, they remain unallocated and are deteriorating. He praised the 'Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Makan' initiative, which has provided 7,000 slum dwellers with flats valued at Rs 40 lakh each, while criticizing former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's administration for allegedly spending Rs 189 crore on personal accommodations instead of addressing housing needs.

Bidhuri expanded his criticism beyond housing issues, accusing the AAP government of failing to implement several central schemes including Ayushman Bharat's Rs 5 lakh health insurance coverage and the Vishwakarma Yojana.

He also pointed to problems in Delhi's public transportation system, attributing its continued operation to central government reforms rather than local administration efforts. These comments come as Delhi prepares for upcoming polls on February 5, with campaign activities reaching their final stage.
