Akhilesh Yadav Slams UP Budget as 'Directionless,' Criticizes BJP's Unmet Promises

Accuses BJP of failing farmers

New Delhi- Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav strongly criticized the Uttar Pradesh government's 2025-26 budget presentation today, describing it as "directionless" and failing to deliver on the BJP's manifesto commitments.

Speaking to reporters, Yadav accused both the state and central BJP administrations of a "double failure," particularly regarding sugarcane farmers who have been awaiting price increases for their crops.

"It's an empty budget full of noise and showmanship," Yadav stated. "They keep calling it the biggest budget whenever they present the figures, but the reality is different."

The opposition leader claimed the budget has created difficulties even for BJP ministers and legislators who now face challenging questions from constituents. He characterized this as the "second-to-last budget" of the current administration, predicting a change in government after next year.

Yadav particularly focused on agricultural policies, claiming the government continues to struggle with fulfilling promises regarding Minimum Support Prices and free electricity for irrigation. He noted that despite nine budget cycles, the administration has failed to provide transparent data on payments to sugarcane farmers or procurement details.

"SP representatives have been communicating with frustrated sugarcane growers, especially in Saharanpur," Yadav added. "Despite farmers' high expectations, the government has failed to increase procurement prices."
