AAP's Atishi Resigns as Delhi CM After Election Loss

Kejriwal-led party suffers shocking defeat in capital

New Delhi- Following the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP leader Atishi submitted her resignation from the Chief Minister's post to Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena at the Delhi Secretariat on Sunday.

Atishi, a key strategist for AAP, secured a victory in her Kalkaji constituency, defeating BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri by a margin of 3,521 votes. However, her win stood out in an otherwise disastrous election for AAP, in which senior leaders including Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal suffered shocking defeats.

The BJP secured a decisive mandate in the Delhi elections, marking a significant shift in political landscape of the capital. The party's victory in border constituencies, particularly those near Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, played a crucial role in their success. The landslide victory signifies the end of the Kejriwal-led governance model and a shift in public sentiment, where freebies no longer guarantee electoral success.
