Lucknow: The months immediately preceeding the Board exams are the most hectic period for any education board. The UP Board of Madrasa Education has complained that the audit being conducted by the government is infringing with the preparation of the Board and Home examination. In a letter written to the Dharampal Singh, Minority Welfare, Waqf and Haj Iftikar Ahmad Javed, Chairman, UP Board of Madrasa Education has said that this is the fourth such audit despite the fact that all the data regarding the madrasas is available on Madrasa Education Council portal and therefore there is no need for this exercise, which is also effecting the functioning of the Board at a crucial time.
The Mooknayak spoke to Iftikar Ahmad, he said, “The madrasa board is gearing up for the board exams from the 13th of February, the teachers, the officers of the board are busy in the form filling process, the login process for the exams, but due to the audit they are busy in preparing and searching for the records. At times the officials visit abruptly and the students get anxious as to what is the matter." He said that the officials should conduct the investigation only after getting the permission, which they have not taken.
This is the fourth such audit after 2017, when the portal madarsaboard.upsdc.gov.in came into existence. Registration of all recognized Madarsa on the portal has been made mandatory. The examinations of Munshi/Maulvi (Secondary), Alim (Senior Secondary), Kamil and Fazil are being conducted from the year 2018 through the portal. There are a total 16,460 madrasas registered under the madrasa board, which cover education from tahaniya (primary) to Munshi/maulvi.
In November 2023, the mooknayak had reported that not a single new madrasa had been granted recognition by the government since the Yogi Adityanath government came to power, which has jeopardised the future of 7.50 lakh students. The Chairman of the Madrasa Board, iftikaar Ahmad had also written to UP Chief Minister to provide recognition to the madrasa.
