Ajmer- The Hindu Sena has backed Ajmer Dargah Diwan Syed Zainul Abedin Ali Khan's request to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the historic shrine as a national Jain pilgrimage site.
Khan's letter emphasized India's diverse religious heritage and cited Ajmer's significance as both home to Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti's Dargah and Lord Brahma's temple in Pushkar.
Khan linked the timing of his request to Acharya 108 Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj's death anniversary on February 6, highlighting the Jain leader's connection to Ajmer. He argued that such recognition would promote interfaith harmony while honoring Acharya Shri's legacy of asceticism and service.
Hindu Sena member Vishnu Gupta, who previously filed a petition claiming a Shiva temple existed at the Dargah site, welcomed Khan's acknowledgment of Ajmer's Jain heritage.
Gupta contended that the Dargah was built after demolishing both Jain temples and the Sankat Mochan temple of Lord Shiva, suggesting that official recognition as a Jain pilgrimage site would strengthen Hindu claims about the site's religious history.
