Bidkin Industrial Area: A New Hub of Growth in Maharashtra

Prime Minister inaugurates a 7,855-acre industrial area that promises 30,000 jobs and Rs 56,200 crore in investments.

Mumbai- The Bidkin Industrial Area (BIA), a 7,855-acre project in Maharashtra, was dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji on September 29. The industrial area is expected to attract over Rs 56,200 crore in investments and create over 30,000 jobs.

The project was developed under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program (NICDP) as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. It is situated 20 kilometers south of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, and is well connected to the rest of the country. The Bidkin Industrial Area has excellent infrastructure facilities, including roads, water supply, and power supply. It also has a 51:49 partnership between the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), which is expected to ensure the smooth execution of the project.

The government of India approved the project with a total cost of Rs 6,414 crore. The first phase of the project, covering 2,511 acres, has been prioritized with an investment of Rs 2,427 crore. The Maharashtra Industrial Township Limited (MITL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed with a 51:49 partnership between Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), has driven this ambitious project. The SPV has a mission to develop industrial and mixed-use plots in the Bidkin Industrial Area and provide an impetus to the growth of employment opportunities in the area.

The development of the Bidkin Industrial Area is expected to have a positive impact on the economic growth of the Marathwada region. It is expected to attract more skilled businesses and also promote industrial development. This will also create a new opportunity for employment in the area. Currently, the project has attracted investments from companies like Ather Energy (100 acres), Lubrizol (120 acres), Toyota-Kirloskar (MoU for 850 acres), and JSW Green Mobility (500 acres). The total investment value of these four projects is Rs 56,200 crore.

The Bidkin Industrial Area is a step towards industrial excellence. The project is expected to create employment opportunities, boost exports, and contribute to the overall development of the region. The dedication of the Bidkin Industrial Area to the nation marks a dynamic leap in India's journey toward becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse.
