Ajmer– Saloni Bai, a prominent transgender community leader, lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts for the transgender community's welfare on Wednesday. She attributed the community's increased security, respect, and recognition to the Prime Minister's commitment and actions.

Bai expressed her gratitude, stating, "My community prays for him (PM Modi) that he always remains healthy and happy and continues to work for the country's progress."

Her praise comes after Prime Minister Modi highlighted his government's work for marginalized communities, including the transgender community, during his final address in the 17th Lok Sabha session last February. He emphasized that his government had provided identity to the transgender community, a group often overlooked and disrespected. He also highlighted the government's efforts to ensure the well-being of marginalized communities, including providing free vaccinations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the All India Kinnar Mahasammelan, a significant gathering for the transgender community, will be held in Ajmer, Rajasthan, from February 16 to 26. Saloni Bai, who serves as the President of the transgender community, will preside over the conference.

The event is expected to draw 4,000 to 4,500 transgender individuals from across India and will feature religious rituals, cultural activities, and a grand procession. The Mahasammelan will include traditional Hindu rituals such as havan, puja, Kalash Yatra, Chaak Puja, and a special preparation of Khichdi, which will be distributed as food. The Ambe Mata Temple will host a 'Chhatra' offering ceremony and a grand city procession. Saloni Bai believes this conference will further raise awareness and promote respect and recognition for the transgender community.
