Jacinta Kerketta and Prof. Prabhashankar Premi Honored with Prestigious Shabd Literary Awards 2025

Awardees will be felicitated with a Mysore Peta, memento, Angavastram, and prize money at the annual ceremony on December 28, in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru – Shabd Sahityik Sanstha, Bengaluru’s renowned literary organization, proudly announced the recipients of the 2025 ‘Agyeya Shabd Srijan Samman’ and ‘Dakshin Bharat Shabd Hindi Sevi Samman.’ These prestigious awards celebrate exceptional contributions to Hindi literature and its promotion in Southern India. Eminent poetess Jacinta Kerketta will receive the ‘Agyeya Shabd Srijan Samman’ for her evocative poetry collection Prem Mein Ped Hona, while distinguished scholar Prof. Prabhashankar Premi will be honored with the ‘Dakshin Bharat Shabd Hindi Sevi Samman’ for his remarkable efforts in advancing Hindi language and literature.

Dr. Shreenarayan Sameer, president of Shabd Sahityik Sanstha, shared the announcement in a press release today, stating that both awardees will be felicitated with a Mysore Peta, memento, Angavastram, and prize money at the annual ceremony on December 28, 2025, in Bengaluru. The ‘Agyeya Shabd Srijan Samman,’ carrying a cash prize of ₹1,00,000, will be presented by the foundation of Shri Babulal Gupta, a celebrated social worker and exponent of ‘Agyeya’ literature. The ‘Dakshin Bharat Shabd Hindi Sevi Samman,’ with a prize of ₹25,000, will be jointly presented by Dakshin Bharat Rashtramat, a leading Hindi newspaper published from Bengaluru and Chennai.

The jury, comprising Babulal Gupta, Shrikant Parashar, Nalini Popat, Dr. Usharani Rao, and Dr. Shreenarayan Sameer, unanimously selected the winners after evaluating 35 entries. The selection process emphasized transparency, assessing the creative contributions and overall impact of the nominees’ works.

The selection process emphasized transparency, assessing the creative contributions and overall impact of the nominees’ works.

For the ‘Agyeya Shabd Srijan Samman,’ the jury lauded Jacinta Kerketta, noting, “Her poetry vividly captures the struggles of tribal communities, weaving themes of love, suffering, and the earth’s plight due to human exploitation. Her work is a powerful call to society, blending raw emotion with profound insight.” For the ‘Dakshin Bharat Shabd Hindi Sevi Samman,’ the jury praised Prof. Premi, stating, “His tireless efforts in fostering harmony between Hindi and Kannada, promoting linguistic unity across Karnataka, and strengthening cultural ties between North and South India are truly commendable.”
