Bhopal- The Department of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy) in rural areas of Madhya Pradesh has initiated a campaign to raise awareness among people. In this campaign, teams of doctors are visiting households in rural areas, conducting surveys for better health facilities, and providing training to prevent diseases. The initiative also includes training pregnant women on nutrition, lifestyle, and exercise. Doctors have even adopted some villages for this purpose.
This innovative initiative by the AYUSH Department involves pregnant women, school-going children, couples suffering from joint pain, and the elderly. Currently, the campaign is planned to run for one year, with the possibility of extending it for an additional two years.
Seven Ayurvedic colleges and homeopathic medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh are implementing this campaign throughout the state. AYUSH Directorate has already identified villages as AYUSH Grams for the initiative. In the initial phase of the campaign, 15 AYUSH Grams have been established in one region, where doctor teams will conduct surveys and train the residents. Asha workers (community health workers) are also being integrated into the program to ensure easy access to hospitals for any patient in distress.
For this campaign, doctors and staff from the Government Ashtang Ayurvedic College have adopted six villages in the Indore district, including Aznod, Semlya Chau, Badgonda, Rangwasa, Machal, and Gawli Palasia. These doctors will be visiting the adopted villages to implement the program.
The Mooknayak spoke to Dr. Ajit Pal Singh Chauhan, the Principal of the Ashtang Ayurvedic College, who mentioned that they are working on four programs under this initiative. The first program, Suprabha, focuses on providing training to pregnant women on nutrition, lifestyle, and exercise to ensure a healthy pregnancy and normal delivery.
Principal Ajit Pal Chauhan explained that under the AYUSH Vidhya, their team will inspect 300 schools within a year, with a particular focus on rural areas. The emphasis will be on providing information to school students about civilization, culture, healthy living, nutrition, medicinal plants, and more. Both government and private schools will be included in the program. The campaign will also include health check-ups for couples, screening for diseases like arthritis, and providing facilities for Panchakarma and physiotherapy.
In the program called Vayo Mitra, elderly people will be diagnosed and treated for diseases such as Parkinson's, urinary incontinence, forgetfulness, diabetes, and mental illnesses. This comprehensive initiative aims to improve the overall health and well-being of people in rural Madhya Pradesh.
