Lok Sabha Speaker Stresses on Upholding Democracy in Parliament

Birla urges new MPs to conduct themselves with dignity and fulfill people's aspirations

New Delhi- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has stressed the importance of maintaining the highest standards of democracy and ethics while addressing the valedictory session of the two-day Orientation Programme for the newly elected Members of Parliament in New Delhi.

In his address, Birla highlighted that the country is the largest democracy in the world and the actions of its lawmakers are observed not only within India but globally.

He urged the new members to conduct themselves with dignity, decency, and decorum while carrying the responsibility of representing the people they were elected to serve. He also emphasised the importance of fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people they represent by using the forum of the House to discuss the issues affecting the public.

The speaker emphasised that the members of the Parliament have a significant responsibility to address public issues and provide thoughtful suggestions to the government on matters of governance. He urged the new members to embrace their responsibilities with purpose and resolve.
