New Delhi- Cockroach Janta Party founder and National Convenor Abhijeet Dipke was intercepted and placed under preventive detention by the Delhi Police today before he could even reach Central Park, Connaught Place, to hold up the national flag.
The detention took place outside the residence of NCP-SCP spokesperson Anish Gawande while Dipke was walking entirely alone. This occurred despite an official appeal by the Cockroach Janta Party instructing to the public and volunteers: to avoid any mass gathering, step forward quietly in tiny groups, simply take a picture holding our Tiranga, and silently disperse. Yet, law enforcement chose to block the entire area and detain Dipke as he walked completely alone, showing that under this administration, even the quietest, most peaceful embrace of the national flag is treated as an offense.
"Why are you stopping me? I am walking completely alone; there is no crowd with me," Dipke asked police personnel as they surrounded and blocked his path outside the residence of NCP-SCP spokesperson Anish Gawande. "Is waving the Tiranga a crime in this country? Even when we officially asked our people to stay in small groups, take a simple picture with our Tiranga, and leave in peace, you still won't let us breathe. If holding our own national flag in our own capital is treated as a crime, then put me in jail. If loving the Tiranga is a violation of your laws, then you have treated basic patriotism as a crime in this country."
The Cockroach Janta Party strongly condemns this attempt to crush the spirit of ordinary citizens. When people were stripped of their right to assemble, they chose to express their love for democracy in the gentlest way possible, by standing in small clusters, holding the Tiranga, capturing a single photograph, and walking away.
By detaining Abhijeet Dipke for simply walking towards the venue to hold the national flag, the authorities have proven that they are terrified not of disruption, but of the quiet, undeniable power of the Tricolour in the hands of ordinary citizens. The Cockroach Janta Party vows that no force can suppress the love citizens carry for the Tiranga or silence the demand for electoral justice. Meanwhile, Neha Bora who was marching towards CP from Mandi House too was detained.
