New Delhi - A Delhi court has deferred the pronouncement of its judgment in the murder case against former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar, related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, who was scheduled to announce the verdict today, has postponed it to February 12.

The case pertains to the killing of a father and son, Jaswant Singh and Tarundeep Singh, in the Saraswati Vihar area on November 1, 1984. The prosecution alleges that Sajjan Kumar led a mob that attacked and killed the two victims, along with looting and burning their house.

The case was investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) following recommendations from the Justice G.P. Mathur Committee, which advocated for the reopening of 114 cases related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The SIT alleges that Sajjan Kumar incited the mob to commit the acts of violence and destruction. They have presented witness statements and material evidence gathered during the investigation to support their claims.

The judgment in the case is now expected on February 12.
