Bhopal- Madhya Pradesh Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel stated on Saturday that farmers are not supportive of the ongoing protests in Delhi and other states. Patel, who claims to be a farmer's leader, asserted that the protestors do not represent the true sentiments of the farming community.

"Being a farmer’s leader, I am aware of farmers issues. Some people are protesting in the name of farmers, but the fact is that farmers are not with protestors," Patel said. He pointed to the recent developments in Haryana and Punjab as evidence, stating that farmers have not joined the demonstrations.

Patel emphasized that the BJP government has consistently prioritized the welfare of farmers. He highlighted the benefits received by farmers under the BJP's governance, both in Madhya Pradesh and across the country. The Minister stated that the benefits were provided under the BJP government.

Meanwhile, farmers continue to protest at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders in Punjab, demanding a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, loan waivers, and agricultural reforms. On February 13, 2023, security forces stopped the farmers from proceeding to Delhi, prompting them to camp at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders in Punjab. On Saturday, Haryana Police dispersed protesting farmers at the Shambhu border with teargas shells.
