Patna- Thousands of people have been displaced due to floods in Bihar. The Met Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in the western and eastern parts of Bihar, specifically in the districts of Saran, Bhojpur, Vaishali, Bhagalpur, and Banka. The alert has been in place for the next 24 hours.

The Met Department has said that the water level of the Ganga, Gandak, Koshi, Mahananda, and other rivers has crossed the danger mark at several locations due to the continuous rainfall in their catchment areas. Rural roads, protective embankments, and houses have been damaged in the flood-affected areas of Bhagalpur, Katihar, and Kishanganj districts.

A crisis of fodder is also prevailing before farmers for their livestocks in the flood-affected areas. In the West Champaran district, roads are submerged in Bagaha, Thakraha, Madhubani, Piprosi blocks.

Only countrymade boats are now the main means of transportation in the flood-affected areas. The flood-affected people have taken shelter in higher places.
