Tejashwi Yadav Joins Students’ Protest Over BPSC Exams

Faces Criticism for Politicizing Movement

Patna — Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav extended his support to protesting students demanding the cancellation of the recent Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exams. However, his involvement has drawn criticism from student leaders, who accuse politicians of exploiting their movement for political gain.

Tejashwi visited Gardanibagh, where students have been holding a 24-hour protest against the 70th Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) conducted on December 13. Protesters allege the exam was riddled with irregularities, raising concerns about the transparency of the BPSC’s recruitment process.

Student leader Dilip Kumar expressed anger over political interference, accusing parties of hijacking the movement. Speaking to IANS, he remarked, “Whenever a party is in opposition, they show support. But when they’re in power, they stay silent and allow peaceful protests to be met with lathi charges.”

Kumar also criticized Tejashwi for alleged hypocrisy, pointing out that during the RJD's tenure, several recruitment exam paper leaks, including the 2023 constable recruitment and BSSC CGL exams, were ignored by the government.

The student leader alleged that the movement, initially organized through a Telegram group, has been politicized by the involvement of political figures and teachers. Despite this, he emphasized that core protesters remain focused on their demands for transparency and integrity in competitive exams.

The controversy over the BPSC exams has sparked broader concerns about the influence of education mafias and the state’s capability to ensure fairness in public recruitment.
