Transformation of Faith: 500 Dalits Embrace Buddhism in a Profound Conversion in Gujarat's Junagarh Village

Approximately 500 individuals and 75 families embraced the teachings, as they took initiation into the revered faith.

The serene village of Vishad Hadmatiya in Bhesan Taluka, Junagarh in Gujarat, witnessed a momentous occasion as the Indian Buddhist Mahasabha organized a Dhamma Deeksha samaroh on Sunday, 21 May, 2023. 500 persons from 75 dalit families discarded Hindu dharma to embrace Buddhism. The converts pledged allegiance to Gautam Buddha's Panchsheel principles.

The highlight of the gathering was the unveiling of statues honoring Gautam Buddha and Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar symbolizing their invaluable contributions. National President Dr. Bhimrao Yanshwantrao Ambedkar, accompanied by Harish Bhai Rawaliya, Trustee Chairman of the Indian Buddhist Mahasabha, Pravin Nikhade, V. H. Gaywad , AK Bhandare and Bhantai Anand from Maharashtra's Amaravati, orchestrated the ceremony.

Approximately 500 individuals and 75 families embraced the teachings, as they took initiation into the revered faith. The momentous occasion was further accentuated by a grand welcome rally for Dr. Bhimrao Yanshwantrao Ambedkar, where an astounding crowd of around 10,000 people participated. The relentless efforts of the Indian Buddhist Mahasabha and Samata Sainik Dal played a vital role in the resounding success of the program.

A heartwarming gesture unfolded as Dr. Bhimrao Yanshwantrao Ambedkar was greeted with great honor by Syed Habib Bapu, the leader of the Muslim community in the village. The Muslim brothers of the village expressed their respect by offering flowers, as a large number of people eagerly awaited Dr. Bhimrao's first visit to Gujarat and Junagadh.

Overwhelmed by the warmth and reception, Dr. Bhimrao conveyed his happiness and shared his vision of organizing the Bharatiya Bodh Mahasabha throughout India. He acknowledged the pivotal role that the leaders of Bhesan Taluka and the Bhesan Bharti Bodh Mahasabha would play in making this endeavor a resounding success.

Chairman Mansukh Bhai Vaghela's relentless efforts were recognized and applauded by Bhimrao Sahib, who honored him alongside other esteemed guests. They extended their gratitude to all those who supported and cooperated in making this program a resounding success. The attendees were treated to a delectable feast and were enraptured by soulful Bhim Bhajans that filled the air, adding an aura of spiritual bliss to the memorable occasion. The event was marked by a lively rally with pulsating DJ music.
