New Delhi- At a special gathering held Monday at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu recognized outstanding women achievers in India's aviation sector as part of her "The President with the People" initiative.

The aviation industry is witnessing a remarkable transformation in gender diversity, with women making substantial inroads across various roles. Current statistics reveal women comprise 15% of Air Traffic Controllers, while their presence in flight dispatch and aerospace engineering stands at 11% and 9% respectively. Notably, women constituted 18% of commercial pilot license recipients last year.

Speaking at the event, President Murmu praised the government's inclusive policies that have facilitated women's advancement in aviation. She emphasized that breaking traditional barriers requires not only individual determination but also robust family support, noting that even well-educated women often face challenges without familial backing.

The President challenged these accomplished women to serve as inspirational figures for future generations, encouraging them to mentor others in the field. She stressed that while progress has been made, the industry must continue working toward creating equitable opportunities for women's career advancement.

This gathering marks another milestone in recognizing women's contributions to what was historically a male-dominated sector, highlighting the changing face of Indian aviation.
