New Delhi- The Initiative for Gender Equity and Sensitisation (IGES) at IIT Delhi organised a Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon on July 5. The event is aimed at addressing the gender gap on Wikipedia and promoting diversity and inclusion on the platform.

The initiative was organised by the Institute’s office of Academic Outreach and New Initiatives (ONI), in collaboration with the STEM Mentorship Programme of IIT Delhi. Students from various schools in Delhi and the undergraduate students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, JNU, New Delhi, took part in the content creation activities during the Edit-a-Thon.

The Edit-a-Thon event is of considerable importance as it presents an opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to come together and collaborate on a common project. The event also serves as a platform to promote gender diversity and inclusion on digital platforms.

The students actively participated in the event and engaged with the event, understanding the importance of representation and the impact their contributions could make. The event not only addressed the pressing issue of gender disparity but also fostered a collaborative spirit towards building a more equitable digital landscape.

The success of the Edit-a-Thon event can be attributed to the sense of community and shared purpose among the participants. The event also marks a milestone in the Institute’s efforts towards promoting gender equality and diversity on Wikipedia.
