Vice President calls for India-Africa partnership on clean tech

Dhankhar highlights climate-resilient agriculture, maritime security, and connectivity as key areas of cooperation

New Delhi- The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, has emphasized the strengthening of cooperation between India and Africa on a wide range of issues, including clean technology, climate-resilient agriculture, maritime security, connectivity, and the blue economy.

During his speech at the inaugural session of the 19th CII India-Africa Business Conclave, the Vice President highlighted the potential of the partnership between the two countries to drive progress for the Global South. He referred to the areas of climate change, clean technology, and maritime security as some of the key areas of cooperation, which he believes can play a decisive role in promoting sustainable development and peace.

The Vice President also expressed India's gratitude for the African countries' participation in the International Solar Alliance, the Global Biofuel Alliance, and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure. He also announced India's support for the African Union's 'Ezulwini Consensus' and the 'Sirte Declaration'.

Noting that India has historically never believed in expansion, the Vice-President underscored India's participatory approach towards building and strengthening partnerships. "Bharat, with massive digitization and technological advancements, offers numerous avenues for cooperation and presents opportunities for mutual benefit and shared success," he said. The Vice-President urged African countries to join the International Big Cat Alliance.
