Tripura Schools Shut Due to Flooding

Heavy rainfall triggers red alert, affecting 7 districts

Agartala- Authorities in Tripura have directed the closure of all schools, including private ones, for the rest of the day as heavy rains are expected to create significant flooding.

The closures were announced by the Khowai and Dhalai district administrations due to the incessant rainfall, which has triggered a red alert for the region.

According to the IMD, the highest 99.5 millimetres of rainfall has been recorded in the Agartala airport in the last 24 hours. It has also warned of orange alerts for the remaining six districts of Sepahijala, Dhalai, North Tripura, Gomati, South Tripura, and Unakoti.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who returned to Agartala from Delhi after an official visit, chaired a review meeting with senior officials to review the current flood situation in the state. He has instructed all the officials to ensure timely support and relief to the affected people.
