India's coal production experienced significant growth in October 2024, reaching 84.45 million tonnes, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Coal. This represents a 7.48% increase compared to the 78.57 million tonnes produced in October of the previous year.

The Ministry also highlighted the robust performance of captive and other entities, which saw their coal output surge by 41.75% in October 2024, reaching 16.59 million tonnes, compared to 11.70 million tonnes in October 2023.

This positive trend is reflected in the cumulative coal production for the fiscal year up to October 2024, which stands at 537.45 million tonnes. This marks a 6.10% increase compared to the 506.56 million tonnes produced during the same period in the previous fiscal year.

Coal dispatches also witnessed notable growth, with October 2024 figures reaching 82.89 million tonnes, a 4.60% rise from the 79.25 million tonnes dispatched in October 2023. Captive and other entities played a significant role in this growth, with their coal dispatches reaching 16.18 million tonnes in October 2024, a 36.83% increase from 11.83 million tonnes in October of the previous year.

Furthermore, the Ministry reported that cumulative coal dispatches from April to October 2024 reached 571.39 million tonnes, indicating a 5.52% increase compared to the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year.
