New Delhi- The government of Sri Lanka has invited a five-member Indian delegation to visit the island for three days. The delegation, led by the Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), will be in Sri Lanka from July 7-9, 2024.

The visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in personnel administration and governance in the period 2024-2029. The delegation will have discussions with senior officials of the government and civil servants with the aim of implementing capacity-building programs for the civil servants in Sri Lanka.

The agenda of the visit includes a meeting with the Secretary to the President, the Secretary to the Prime Minister, and the Secretary Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Council, and Local Government. The delegation will also visit the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA) to discuss the implementation of centralized public grievance redressal systems.

The visit will also provide an opportunity for the delegation to interact with alumni of the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) in the Sri Lankan Civil Service.

The NCGG has organized three capacity-building training programs for senior and mid-level officers of Sri Lanka. The first program, which lasted from February 12-17, 2024, trained a total of 95 civil servants. The ongoing capacity-building initiatives are focused on developing a roadmap for future collaborations and exchanging insights on effective governance practices.
