New Delhi, India - National Security Advisor Ajit Doval spoke with his US counterpart, Jake Sullivan, on Thursday, focusing on regional security developments and the importance of bolstering stability in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond. The White House released a statement emphasizing the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations, highlighting their shared democratic values and mutual interests.
Both Doval and Sullivan acknowledged the progress made in the bilateral partnership, citing upcoming forums like the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) Intersessional and the Indian Ocean Dialogue as key opportunities for further collaboration. They also explored expanding cooperation in areas such as clean energy supply chains and defense cooperation, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening ties amidst global challenges.
The conversation underscores the growing strategic partnership between India and the US, which has evolved into a "global strategic partnership" in recent years. This partnership encompasses a wide range of sectors, including trade, defense, education, science and technology, cybersecurity, civil nuclear energy, space, clean energy, environment, agriculture, and health.
The two leaders last met in person in September during the Quad Summit in Delaware, where they discussed advancing bilateral cooperation on global and regional issues, including the Indo-Pacific. Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged President Joe Biden's contributions to the India-US partnership during the summit, highlighting the positive impact of recent high-level visits on the relationship.
