New Delhi- The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) celebrated its 83rd Foundation Day on September 26. The day is dedicated to the foundation of CSIR as a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting science, technology, and mathematics.

This year's theme for CSIR Foundation Day was 'Viksit Bharat @2027'. The theme emphasises the importance of science and technology in the development of a nation and the need for an inclusive approach to promote it. The day also offers an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in research and development in India and to identify areas where more work needs to be done.

The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, emphasised the importance of CSIR in transforming the landscape of agriculture in Jammu and Kashmir and making it a hub for agri-based entrepreneurship. He also emphasised the need for an internationally competitive national science and technology system to drive economic growth and promote sustainable development.

The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, paid a tribute to the CSIR and its contributions to the nation's scientific and technological advancement. He highlighted the organisation's efforts in promoting women in science, driving economic growth, and ensuring innovations benefit society.

The CSIR Foundation Day celebrations 2024 were marked by the inauguration of a thematic exhibition titled 'CSIR for Viksit Bharat @2027' at the National Agricultural Science Complex (NASC) in New Delhi. The exhibition showcased various CSIR laboratories' technologies on themes aligned with the #OneWeekOneTheme Campaign. The day also saw the presentation of awards to the winners of the CSIR Energy Saving Campaign.

The CSIR Foundation Day 2024 celebrations emphasised the importance of science and technology in the advancement of a nation and the necessity of an inclusive approach to promote it. The day also provided an opportunity to review the progress of research and development in India and identify the areas that require additional study.
