Director Sudipto Sen Criticizes Influencers Over Vulgar Remarks, Calls for Responsible Speech

Director Sen and Comedian Sunil Pal Condemn Vulgarity in Influencer Content

Mumbai- "The Kerala Story" director Sudipto Sen has criticized recent controversial remarks made by influencers Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina, emphasizing that freedom of speech comes with responsibility. In an exclusive interview with IANS, Sen expressed concern about influencers discussing vulgar topics openly, stating that educated individuals must be mindful of their influence, particularly given India's large illiterate population.

The controversy intensified when comedian Sunil Pal strongly condemned both Raina and Allahbadia, suggesting they shouldn't be called stand-up comedians as it would insult the profession. Pal particularly criticized event organizers for providing platforms for what he described as vulgarity and offensive language, instead of promoting meaningful content.

The outcry stemmed from Allahbadia's appearance on Raina's show "India's Got Latent," where he asked a contestant an inappropriate question about their parents' intimate relationship. The incident led to a complaint being filed in Mumbai against Allahbadia (known as 'BeerBiceps'), Apoorva Mukhija ('The Rebel Kid'), and Raina for alleged use of abusive language. Following the backlash, Allahbadia has issued a public apology, acknowledging his comments were "inappropriate" and "not funny at all."
