New Delhi- Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren tendered his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Wednesday. Following Soren's resignation, 68-year-old Champai Soren is set to become the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Champai Soren, an MLA from Seraikela and the vice president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), expressed his commitment to safeguarding the pride of Jharkhand. He claimed the support of 47 MLAs and emphasized the need to address the suppression of tribal voices over the years.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Chief Minister Hemant Soren in connection with a money laundering case related to an alleged land scam. Hemant Soren has approached the Supreme Court against his arrest, and the hearing is scheduled for February 2. In response to the arrest, tribal organizations have announced a shutdown in Jharkhand.

Amid these developments, the BJP is reportedly capitalizing on the situation, and there are speculations about the potential imposition of President's rule in Jharkhand, though no official confirmation has been provided.

Hemant Soren, in a video released prior to his ED arrest, addressed the people of the state. He expressed his determination to fight against oppression and conspiracy, emphasizing his commitment to raising the voice of the poor, Dalits, tribals, and backward communities.

Following his arrest, Hemant Soren shared a poem by Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Twitter, conveying his resolve to continue the fight for justice. He reiterated his determination not to compromise and vowed to stand up against injustice, highlighting the strength of the people's spirit.

Former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad, in a recent post on X, expressed concern over the alleged mistreatment of Jharkhand's popular tribal Chief Minister Hemant Soren by the central government. Lalu Prasad criticized the BJP for employing what he called "disgusting tactics" and warned that while such tactics might create short-term difficulties, they cannot overpower the determination and aspirations of backward, Dalit, tribal, minority, and marginalized communities. He asserted that the fear of the BJP is widely recognized, and the public is now well aware of it. Lalu Prasad conveyed strong support for Hemant Soren in his post.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav extended support to Hemant Soren. In a long social media post, Akhilesh Yadav declared, "Jharkhand will not bow down! The anti-tribal face of the BJP is coming to the fore in Jharkhand. Jharkhand's courageous warrior, Hemant Soren, has always been committed to protecting tribals and tribal areas from the exploitation by BJP politicians and capitalists. This commitment has led him to stand as a wall against corruption, ensuring Jharkhand is saved from exploitation. The mistreatment he is facing is an insult to the public opinion of Jharkhand. Every resident of Jharkhand will vote against the BJP this time, and the party will have to face a historic defeat.

The BJP, feeling defeated on major issues like inflation, unemployment, and corruption, is resorting to desperate measures to retain power. These include attempting to overthrow governments, arresting elected Chief Ministers, and allegedly manipulating ballot papers. BJP's moral defeat is evident, and even those who previously supported them are reconsidering their allegiance.

The Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA), which advocates for tribal societies, backward classes, Dalits, minorities, women, and oppressed individuals among the advanced population, represents a unifying force. The BJP's perceived opposition to the PDA indicates an anti-unity stance. Overall, the PDA symbolizes the unity of 90% of the country's population, and the BJP is accused of attempting to sow division through fear tactics, raids, and arrests."
