Hyderabad- Student organizations of the University of Hyderabad (HCU) actively participated in the Telangana Bandh for Social Justice on Saturday and symbolically closed the Main Gate of the university, expressing solidarity with the state-wide movement demanding 42% BC Reservations in Education, Employment, and Local Bodies.

All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA) National President G. Kiran Kumar said that Modi Government immediately clear the Telangana Bills providing 42% BC Reservations and include them in the Ninth Schedule of the Indian Constitution to protect them from judicial hurdles.

In their joint statement, the organizations emphasized that the demand for 42% BC reservations is rooted in empirical caste survey data and based on the constitutional principles of equality, representation, and social justice. They condemned the discriminatory approach of breaching the 50% ceiling for EWS while denying OBCs their rightful share, calling it a blatant act of social injustice.

The student leaders urged the Union Government to uphold the spirit of the Constitution and ensure that the aspirations of the Backward Classes are fulfilled through legislative and constitutional means.

The protest witnessed participation from a wide range of student organizations, including AIOBCSA, AISA, ASA, BSF, DSU, FRATERNITY, MSF, NSUI, PDSU, and TSF, who jointly pledged to continue the struggle until social justice is ensured for the Backward Classes.
